The fun didn’t stop at the wedding dress.

As “Creative Director” of Vanessa & Naveen’s wedding I had the opportunity to create much more than Vanessa’s wedding dress.

I designed and created everything from invitations, bowties, custom denim jackets and even a dress for a “special MOH”.

My bodice was made with off white French lace and Swarovski crystal buttons down the back, paired with an off white fit and flare crepe skirt with a thigh high slit on the right side. This went perfectly with some lucky red heels (which quickly were swapped out for rainbow stripe platforms).

To keep it fun, we made these custom denim jackets for all the bridesmaids to wear. Each hand-painted with acrylic paint.

I lost track of how many bowties were made for this wedding, but this picture is actually missing a few! I created custom bowties out of beautiful Liberty of London fabrics for Naveen’s crew. I should also note: few of them knew how to tie their own, so that became my job!

The Invitation

One of my favourite contributions to the wedding was the invitation. I definitely underestimated the size of this task but the results we’re better than I could have imagined. We used black and white with gold accents to tie into the theme of the wedding and venue. The Burgundy red envelopes also tied in the colours of the beautiful florals and Vanessa’s Indian (princess) wedding gown she wore at the Hindu ceremony.

Special notes with a personal gift for each bridesmaid.

Vanessa and Naveen had two ceremonies on the evening of their wedding, starting with a traditional catholic ceremony and ending off with a Hindu ceremony. These ceremony cards allowed guests to follow through in the traditions of the Hindu ceremony.

The Best Part: The Jordana’s Rainbow Candy Cart

Working as creative director of The Jordana’s Rainbows Foundation, I get to use my creativity in the best and most colourful ways. Our rainbow cart which is used as a market display for events displayed an array of colourful rainbow candy for guests to snack on during two (long) wedding ceremonies. This was a GREAT success and kept everyone happy. In lieu of party favours for the guests Vanessa & Naveen made a generous donation to the foundation in return.
